ADRIAN — Abbie Grias led the Adrian College women’s hockey team to a 5-0 win against Finlandia Friday in the Slaats Cup quarterfinals opener.
Grias scored twice while Une Bjelland, Callie Wollschlager and Jessica VonRuden each scored a goal as well.
Julia Barrett had three assists while Emma Corbett, Kaleigh Cadorette and Brooke Schembri a had an assist each.
Sophie Goldberg made eight saves to post a shutout as the Bulldogs (19-6) outshot Finlandia, 47-8.
Adrian has won nine-straight games.
MEN’S WRESTLING
NCAA Division III Central Regional at Adrian: At Adrian, the Bulldogs hosted the Division III Central Regional and after Day 1, two still have shot for a regional title.
Dylan Wellbaum (197 pounds) opened his day with a 4-1 decision before taking an 11-7 decision in the quarterfinal.
Donald Moses (285) joined Wellbaum with a 2-0 mark of his own on Day 1 with an 8-4 decision and a 3-2 decision in the quarterfinal.
Adrian had 10 wrestlers competing overall and five others are still in the consolation bracket with Zach Phifer (125), Landyn VanWyk (149), Zach Altman (165), Derick Duvall (174) and Blake Williams (184) still wrestling.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Rochester 68, Siena Heights 66: At Rochester Hills, the No. 3 Saints led No. 2 Rochester by 16 with under five minutes to go in the third quarter, but couldn’t hold on for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference semifinal win.
SHU (24-8) led 47-31 after Anaya Powell hit a 3-pointer with 4:29 to go in the third, but Rochester chipped away at the deficit. The Saints led 53-46 going into the final quarter before Rochester evened the game, 57-57, with 5:49 to go.
Rochester pulled ahead, 61-59, with 3:06 left and never gave it up.
Peyton Banks finished with 23 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Saints while Powell had 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and a steal.
