CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina wrestling alum Ethan Ramos will continue his wrestling career and compete at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway. The annual championships will run from Oct. 2-10.
Ramos is one of 29 wrestlers in the 86kg draw, where he will represent Puerto Rico. The weight class will feature wrestlers from 28 countries from all over the world, and it will be the first opportunity at a world title following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ramos was a wrestler at North Carolina from 2013-18. He was a two-time ACC Champion at 174 pounds and a 2015 All-American to wrap up a decorated collegiate career with the Tar Heels
After graduation Ramos worked as a resident athlete with the Scarlet Knight Wrestling Club. He trained wrestlers four times a week while being in top physical shape to continue wrestling with Team Puerto Rico. Ramos is currently an assistant wrestling coach at Duke.
Qualification rounds will begin on Oct. 2 at 4:30 a.m. ET (10:30 a.m. in Oslo). The championships will be shown on FloWrestling.
