COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland gymnastics and wrestling programs will host their sixth annual Beauty and the Beast event on Friday, February 17 at 7 p.m. The teams will compete simultaneously on the XFINITY Center main floor with gymnastics facing Southern Connecticut State and wrestling squaring off against Binghamton.
Gymnastics looks to get off to a strong start to their 2023 campaign as they open the season on Jan. 13 at West Virginia. The Gym Terps will face a competitive schedule which includes hosting three dual meets, one quad meet and a five-team meet all on the XFINITY Center main floor.
Wrestling is currently 4-0 and is nationally ranked for the first time since 2013. The Terps started the season by winning all three matches in their home quad meet—defeating Bloomsburg, Duke and American—before upsetting No. 16 Pittsburgh on the road two weeks later for the program’s first ranked victory since Feb. 17, 2013. Maryland is back in action Sunday when it will travel across town for a dual at Navy at 2 pm. The Terps will kick off Big Ten play on Jan. 9 when they host Indiana at 6:30 pm.
Maryland has hosted an average of more than 2,000 fans at past Beauty and the Beast events. This meet will be ticketed. The price of admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors and free for students with valid student-ids. Tickets are available here.
