Matt Cardona will be sidelined with a torn biceps after he worked a match at GCW Downward Spiral this past Saturday night.
He suffered the injury while wrestling Blake Christian. After the match, he noted that he thought he had hurt his arm while he was attempting to catch a diving Christian.
The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion announced today that he has torn his biceps and will miss some ring time due to surgery to repair the injury. He wrote the following: “Got a MRI today. Bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Will unfortunately need to cancel some dates.”
Cardona was scheduled to defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title against Nick Aldis at the June 11th NWA Alwayz Ready pay-per-view event from the Knoxville Convention Center. The show will air on FITE TV.
The promotion will need to get a replacement for him. As of this writing, it’s unclear whether he will be stripped of the title.
