Olympic Trials wrestling men’s freestyle seeds announced

The Olympic Trials will take place April 2-3 in Fort Worth, Texas to determine which wrestlers will represent the United States at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

A challenge tournament will be held at each of the six Olympic weight classes, concluding with a best-of-three finals. 

The men’s freestyle seeds were announced on Monday. In two weight classes, there is an unseeded wrestler who advances straight to the best-of-three final. In those same weight classes, there is also an unseeded wrestler who advances straight to the semifinals of the challenge tournament.

As defending world medalists at the weights they are wrestling at, Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Snyder both advance straight to the final at their weight classes. Kyle Dake and J’Den Cox, who both won 2019 world championships at non-Olympic weights, advance straight to the challenge tournament semifinals of the weights that they will wrestle at this week.
