Penn State Wrestling coaching staff secures commitment from a top 25 recruit for the class of 2023
Everyone knows Cael Sanderson is one of the best wrestlers in the world. They also know he’s one of the best collegiate wrestling coaches to ever stalk the sidelines. And it’s no shock he’s also one of the best recruiters out there.
If Cael Sanderson wants you, then that means two things. Firstly, you must be one heck of a wrestler, and secondly, it would be in your best interests to accept the Nittany Lion offer because Cael knows how to create champions.
And that’s exactly what Bethlehem Catholic’s Tyler Kasak just did.
The talented wrestler finished off his junior year by going 44-1 and finishing in 3rd place at 138 in the PA State Championships. Kasak has put together in impressive high school career by compiling a career record of 79-3 and he won the state title in 2021 (126) and finished fifth his freshman year in 2020 (106).
Kasak’s commitment isn’t really much a surprise considering he currently trains at David Taylor’s M2 Academy, which has already been a pipeline for a handful of Nittany Lion commits along the way. Levi Haines being the first one to come to my mind.
Speaking of pipelines, there are two other top-rated recruits who also wrestled on Kasak’s Bethlehem Catholic team, Nathan Desmond and Kollin Rath. It would be an incredible get if Cael Sanderson and his coaching staff can land the commitments from these competitive guys down the road.
Tyler Kasak now joins two other 2023 Penn State commits on FloWrestling’s 2023 Big Board. Josh Barr comes in at No.10 (projected for 174/184), Braeden Davis is slotted at No. 36 (projected for 125/133), and Kasak is currently No. 25 (projected for 149/157).
Word on the street is that Kasak will forgo his senior season in high school to exclusively train at M2 Academy. Hey, I sure don’t have any issues if Kasak wants to train with an Olympic gold medalist. Do you?
