NJPW star Will Ospreay has been pulled off a Warrior Wrestling show due to an ongoing medical issue that led to him missing a RevPro event.
Wrestling Inc. reported that they received word from Warrior Wrestling that former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay will miss the upcoming Warrior Wrestling show due to take place on May 28th. Warrior Wrestling released the following statement:
“Due to ongoing treatment and recovery from the severe kidney infection that left him hospitalized a few days ago, Will Ospreay will not be appearing at Warrior Wrestling 22 in St. Louis this Saturday, May 28th.”
“We have been monitoring the situation daily and just spoke with Will. He was hoping to recover in time, but it is simply not possible. Will sends his best to all Warrior fans. Warrior Wrestling will be announcing additional talent for the card shortly. Stay tuned!”
The English star was due to put his Warrior Wrestling Championship on the line against former ROH World Champion Davey Richards on the show. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has reported that AEW star Lance Archer and other mystery competitors are due to replace Ospreay at the event.
London-based promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling announced on May 21st that RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay would not be competing in his much-anticipated bout against Minoru Suzuki at Epic Encounters as he had been rushed to A&E.
Following the announcement, Ospreay took to Twitter to apologise to fans and give more details on his condition. The Commonwealth Kingpin explained that he had blood tests on Friday night and was diagnosed with a serious kidney infection.
Responding to United empire teammate Great O-Khan, Ospreay said he can’t give a timeframe for his return. On a more positive note, however, he claimed that when he does return, he wants the faction to “get all the gold”.
Will Ospreay was last in action at NJPW’s United Empire: Rising event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the show, he defeated the legendary Homicide.
We here at Inside The Ropes would like to wish Will Ospreay a full and speedy recovery.
