Chapel Hill, N.C. – North Carolina Wrestling head coach Coleman Scott has announced the addition of Mohamed Abdelfatah to his coaching staff, joining the Tar Heels as a volunteer assistant.
“We’re excited to welcome Mo to the North Carolina Wrestling family,” Scott said. “Mo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, as an athlete and coaching at the international and Olympic level, and we couldn’t be happier to have him be join our program.”
As an athlete, the 2006 Senior World champion was a two-time World Cup champion and a three-time Olympic qualifier (2000, 2004, 2012). Abdelfatah also added five African Championships, three Mediterranean Games titles and two All-African Games gold medals to his resume.
“I’m extremely excited to join the staff and be part of the program here at UNC,” said Abdelfatah. “I look forward to helping our student-athletes reach new heights on and off the mat.”
After concluding his career, Abdelfatah transitioned to coaching, arriving in Chapel Hill with experience working with the USA National Team and Swedish National Team.
The Tar Heels return to action on Dec. 15, welcoming Appalachian State for the final home dual of the calendar year.
