LEXINGTON Va. – The VMI wrestling team announced its 2022-23 schedule Tuesday, with seven home dates in Cormack Hall on the docket.
The Keydets open the campaign by hosting local rival Southern Virginia University Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. VMI hosts tri-matches with Duke and Franklin & Marshall and Fairmont State and Shenandoah in December before opening the Southern Conference slate at home on January 6 against Chattanooga.
VMI will compete in four tournaments during the regular season, highlighted by the Soldier Salute in Iowa City, Iowa Dec. 28-29. The Southern Conference Championships are set for March 4 in Boone, N.C.
“The schedule was prepared to give our cadet-athletes every opportunity to see the competition they need to in order to be prepared for the post season,” said head coach Jim Gibson. “The first part half of the season has a heavy tournament focus with a handful of dual meets mixed in. The biggest addition to the schedule is the Soldier Salute, a new individual tournament that will be hosted by the University of Iowa.”
