Two-division king Reinier de Ridder said he receives a lot of love from fans when he lands in Singapore. However, he can’t say the same thing when he arrives in his native country of Holland.
‘The Dutch Knight’ continues to build his legacy brick by brick in ONE Championship and has another world title defense in the light heavyweight category against Anatoly Malykhin at ONE on Prime Video 5. The event is live and free for North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
Reinier de Ridder is considered to be one of the most dangerous and dominant MMA grapplers in ONE history. Riding an undefeated record of seven straight wins, the lifelong martial artist is at the highest point of his career.
But while most of the world is taking notice of De Ridder’s ridiculous accomplishments in MMA, the people of Holland aren’t batting an eyelid.
De Ridder told Brian Campbell of Morning Kombat:
“Nah, the Dutch don’t care man. We are a special breed of people. I don’t really know why, but we’re very successful in all types of sports, right? Like with Formula One right now with Max Verstappen, kickboxing, MMA, but even ice skating, all the Olympic sports. We have crazy achievements. But nobody gives a f*ck here. We don’t care for some reason.”

Reinier de Ridder breaks down how Anatoly Malykhin will meet his end
Reinier de Ridder heads towards his third world title matchup of the year with the same unwavering confidence as before.
De Ridder understands the threat posed by the ONE interim heavyweight world champion Anatoly Malykhin. However, submitting strikers is De Ridder’s bread and butter.
Although Malykhin has a strong wrestling foundation, which he mastered before turning to MMA full time, ‘The Dutch Knight’ isn’t all that impressed by what he’s shown thus far in the promotion.
He recently told SCMP MMA:
“His wrestling is very strong, pretty basic shoots, heavy doubles. We haven’t really seen him getting backed up recently, so he mostly comes forward and I think this is where the fight will happen, the first win will be there. [With] me pressing him down, me stalking him and then finally taking him down, putting him on his back.”
